Electric/Acoustic Guitar/Bass

Tabs

Guitar/bass scores should come with chords and tabs (fingerings). If the parts are easy (mainly just chords for guitar and constant single notes for bass), then tabs are not necessary; if tabs are omitted, notate the chord with Technique Markings. Example:

If you have trouble doing this, contact someone (an experienced arranger or a guitar player) who can help you. Rule of thumb: if the difference of two tabbed numbers is greater than 5 (guitar) or 4 (bass), move the offending number up or down a string.

When generating the score, group the instrument and the corresponding tab into one pdf.

Solos

Guitar solos (usually single notes as opposed to chords) are marked with “solo” using Technique Marking.

Distortion and Overdrive

Electric guitars are by default clean. Effects such as distortion and overdrive (usually for solos) are marked using Technique Marking.

Example:

Other Techniques

Other guitar techniques like palm mute, pitch bend, let ring, etc. should be marked using the corresponding notations from Notation->Lines->Guitar.
